History
Manitowoc's first disc golf course started as an object course in the late 1970s. The basket layout was created and refined by Don Hoffman, Tim Hildebrand, Wade Juza, Jeff Malloy and Jim Van Lanen. Business sponsorship was solicited by Tim and followed up by DEW Disc Golf continuing still today. Many improvements have made this course a model for other courses in the Midwest.
What's New
In 2012, 7 fairways were added along with 18 new concrete tee areas and new signage for the entire park marking the new 27 hole layout. In 2014, 14 permanent benches were installed along with 2 safety walls and two stairways. In 2015-2016, another 9 fairways were added for a total of 36 holes - plus a new bridge opening up the North end of the park and a unique hillside hole with a very fast green. In total, the Silver Creek course now has 36 holes, 22 alternate basket placements, 6 champion tees, 8 water holes and an 8 foot high lighthouse basket with a solar light along the beach of Lake Michigan.
